Macramé Workshop

Macramé is a seafaring craft with roots around the Mediterranean that remains trendy today. The technique requires only rope or cord and can be used for everything from hanging planters and jewellery to bags and belts. In this workshop, you will learn the basic knots, and then your imagination takes over. You can bring your own project or start a new one; materials are provided on site.

The instructor is Samira Khoshbakht Bahremany, who holds a master's degree in textile art from HDK Valand and an art degree from the University of Art and Architecture in Tehran. She has also studied visual and craft pedagogy at Konstfack in Stockholm. Samira speaks Swedish, English, Persian, and some Arabic.

The workshop is held on several dates: 24 September, 1 October, 13 October, 15 October, 22 October, and 10 November 2026. It is a collaboration between ABF Väst and Sjöfartsmuseet Akvariet.

From age 13. The programme is included in the admission ticket, but places are limited - arrive at least 10 minutes before the start, otherwise your place may be given to someone in the queue.
