Join a guided tour aboard Färjan 4, a steam-powered ferry and the Maritime Museum's largest artifact. During the journey, you'll hear stories about life along the riverbanks and the traffic that once moved across the water. This time we'll stop at Nya varvet for a short guided walk. The tour is arranged in collaboration with Sällskapet Ångbåten.
Departures at 13:30 from Eriksberg Dockepiren 2 (next to Älvsnabbens ferry terminal) and at 14:00 from Residensbrons ferry dock at Stenpirens travel centre. Return to Eriksberg Dockepiren 2 at 16:00 and to Residensbrons dock at 16:30. Tickets are sold at boarding, cash or Swish only. Price 160 kr. Children under 12 travel free with an adult.
Light refreshments are available for purchase onboard. Note that there is no toilet onboard, and the route may need to be altered in strong winds.
Färjan 4 was built in 1920 and operated as a shuttle ferry across the river for 50 years. Since 1973 it has belonged to the Foundation for Gothenburg's Maritime Museum and is operated by the volunteer association Sällskapet Ångbåten. The vessel is K-classed, powered by a 70 hp steam engine and equipped with a coal-fired steam boiler.
