Acranius is a slam/brutal death metal band from Rostock, Germany, active since 2009. Starting out as a duo, they built a full lineup and released five studio albums - from When Mutation Becomes Homicidal (2013) through to Whiteout (2026) - on Rising Nemesis Records. Their dense, breakdown-heavy sound placed them among the leading European acts in the slam death metal wave, and they have toured extensively across Europe, the US, Japan and beyond.
Acranius released their fifth studio album Whiteout in early March 2026.
Shortly after Whiteout's release, bassist Marvin Anbuhl left the band and was replaced by Jonas Winkler.
Acranius completed a European tour at the end of 2025, co-headlining with All Shall Perish and PeelingFlesh.
Longtime vocalist Kevin Petersen departed the band in mid-2024.
Acranius contributed a track to the Obscene Extreme 2024 compilation.
