Agnès Varda was a Belgian-French film director widely associated with the French New Wave. Her feature Cléo de 5 à 7 (1962) tracks a singer in near real time as she wanders Paris awaiting a medical diagnosis. Varda kept making films well into her eighties and received an honorary Oscar in 2017.
