Organist Anna Lapwood performs with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra in a programme featuring film music by Hans Zimmer, Max Richter and Saint-Saëns.
Anna Lapwood MBE (born 1995) is a British organist, conductor and broadcaster who has built one of classical music's largest social media followings by sharing late-night practice sessions at the Royal Albert Hall, where she became the venue's first-ever official organist in May 2025. She spent nearly a decade as Director of Music at Pembroke College, Cambridge - the youngest person ever appointed to that role at an Oxbridge college - before stepping down in 2025 to focus on a full-time performing career. Signed exclusively to Sony Classical, she has scored two UK Official Classical Chart number ones with Luna (2023) and Firedove (2025), and has premiered works written for her by composers including Max Richter and Olivia Belli.
Lapwood released Arise, Shine on Sony Classical - her final album conducting the Chapel Choir of Pembroke College, Cambridge.
Lapwood announced her first-ever UK arena tour for November 2026, with dates in Cardiff, Glasgow and Manchester.
A free organ concert by Lapwood at Cologne Cathedral drew a crowd of around 13,000 people, forming a queue stretching a mile around the city.
Lapwood was named the first-ever official organist of the Royal Albert Hall, a newly created position.
Her album Firedove, recorded overnight at Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim, debuted at number one on the UK Official Classical Artist Albums Chart.
