Belphegor is an Austrian blackened death metal band from Salzburg, founded in 1991 under the name Betrayer before renaming in 1993. Led since the early days by vocalist and guitarist Helmuth Lehner, the band has released twelve studio albums - from the raw debut The Last Supper (1995) through to The Devils (2022) - and built a reputation as one of Europe's most uncompromising extreme metal acts. Their sound fuses the violent precision of death metal with the ritualistic darkness of black metal, underpinned by lyrics in German, Latin and English that draw on Satanic and occult themes.
Belphegor released the single 'Scarlet Beast - Leviathan' in February 2026, ahead of their 13th studio album.
Belphegor announced the 'Praise the Beast Tour 2026' across North America in February-March 2026, with Incantation, Hate and Narcotic Wasteland as support.
