Carbon Based Lifeforms (CBL) is a Swedish electronic duo - Johannes Hedberg and Daniel Vadestrid - formed in Gothenburg in 1996. Working in ambient, psybient and downtempo, they built a devoted following through albums like the cult classic 'World of Sleepers' (2006) and have since gone independent, releasing music on their own Leftfield Records label. Their sound draws on synthesizers, field recordings and a Roland TB-303, aiming to bridge the organic and the cosmic.
CBL kicked off a European tour in March 2026, with dates in Copenhagen, Tampere and Helsinki before continuing through France, Poland and the UK.
The 2026 tour includes a headline slot at the Eclipse 2026 festival in Hellissandur, Iceland, in August, followed by UK dates in October co-billed with Aes Dana.
The 2023 album 'Seeker' received a vinyl reissue on Leftfield Records in 2024, described by reviewers as a return to CBL's percussive chillout sound.
CBL released their seventh studio album 'Seeker' on 26 June 2023 via their own Leftfield Records label.
Their 2018 album 'Derelicts' charted at #12 on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Albums chart and #11 on the UK Official Charts Top 40 Dance Albums.
