Carola Häggkvist (born 8 September 1966), known simply as Carola, is a Swedish singer-songwriter who has been one of the country's most prominent pop artists since her breakthrough at Melodifestivalen 1983. Her debut album Främling sold over one million copies - still the best-selling album in Swedish music history - and she went on to win Melodifestivalen three times, representing Sweden at Eurovision in 1983, 1991 and 2006. She won the 1991 contest in Rome with 'Fångad av en stormvind', and her catalogue spans pop, gospel and folk.
