Civil War is a Swedish power metal band from Falun, formed in 2012 when four members - guitarists Rikard Sundén and Oskar Montelius, drummer Daniel Mullback, and keyboardist Daniel Mÿhr - left Sabaton during the Carolus Rex era. Fronted initially by Nils Patrik Johansson and later by Kelly Sundown Carpenter, the band built a reputation for twin-guitar riffs, keyboard fanfares, and lyrics drawn from military history across four studio albums on Napalm Records.
Civil War announced the amicable departure of vocalist Kelly Sundown Carpenter, who sought greater focus on his solo career amid touring demands.
As of late 2025, Civil War had not publicly announced a replacement vocalist, with the lineup featuring Thobbe Englund, Daniel Mÿhr, Petrus Granar, and Daniel Mullback.
Civil War released their fourth studio album, Invaders, on June 17, 2022 via Napalm Records, featuring vocalist Kelly Sundown Carpenter and guitarist Thobbe Englund in their first full-length appearances with the band.
Civil War played a support slot for Hammerfall at Scandinavium in Gothenburg on November 28, 2022, resuming live activity after the Invaders release.
