David Binney (born August 2, 1961, Miami) is an American alto saxophonist, composer and producer based in Los Angeles. He has led or co-led over 25 albums and appeared as a sideman on more than 400 others, working across post-bop, electro-acoustic fusion and ambient electronics. A three-time winner of the DownBeat Critics' Poll for alto saxophone, he is also known as the creative force behind the ensemble that recorded David Bowie's final album, Blackstar.
Binney released 'The Isle', a collaborative album with Montreal drummer Tommy Crane, on July 25, 2025 via Mythology Records and Elastic Recordings.
A companion EP, 'Morning Preludes', drawn from warm-up sessions for 'The Isle', was released on September 5, 2025.

Binney released 'Grains of Light' on April 22, 2025, a classical-leaning album featuring string orchestra, saxophone, choir and solo piano.
'The Isle' draws its inspiration from Montreal - several tracks are named after city neighbourhoods, recorded at Studio Mixart in August 2023.
