About

David Bowie (born David Robert Jones, 1947-2016) was an English singer, songwriter and actor whose career spanned more than five decades. He shaped popular music through a restless cycle of reinvention - from glam rock and the Berlin Trilogy to the jazz-inflected farewell of Blackstar (2016) - and his estimated 140 million records sold make him one of the best-selling artists in history. Critics and fellow musicians alike regarded him as one of the defining innovators of the rock era.
