Dungen is a Stockholm-based psychedelic rock band founded by multi-instrumentalist Gustav Ejstes in the late 1990s. Ejstes writes all the music and plays most of the instruments on record, while the live lineup adds guitarist Reine Fiske, bassist Mattias Gustavsson and drummer Johan Holmegard. The 2004 album Ta det lugnt broke the band internationally - sung entirely in Swedish, it earned wide acclaim in NME, Rolling Stone and Pitchfork and led to headline tours in the US. Their sound draws on 1960s and 70s psychedelia, Swedish folk, free jazz and progressive rock.
Dungen contributed the new track 'Snurra På Hjulet' to Mexican Summer's compilation album Sitting on the Moon, released 15 August 2025.
Dungen released the EP Otis on Future Retro London, featuring five tracks derived from 2023 remixes that venture into jungle and drum 'n' bass territory.
Dungen played a concert at Kafe Himlavalvet in Stockholm in June 2024.
