The Rundown
An action film about survival in the wilderness. Screening at Filmstaden in Stockholm.
Dwayne Douglas Johnson (born May 2, 1972), known worldwide as The Rock, is an American-Canadian actor, producer and semi-retired professional wrestler under contract with WWE. Of Black Nova Scotian and Samoan descent, he built one of Hollywood's most bankable careers after leaving the wrestling ring - his films span the Fast & Furious franchise, the Jumanji reboots and Disney's Moana, where he voices the demigod Maui. His dramatic turn as MMA fighter Mark Kerr in Benny Safdie's The Smashing Machine (2025) earned him his first Golden Globe nomination.
Disney's live-action Moana, with Johnson reprising his role as the demigod Maui, is scheduled for theatrical release on July 10, 2026.
Johnson presented footage from the live-action Moana at CinemaCon in Las Vegas in April 2026, discussing his personal connection to the character.
Johnson received his first-ever Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Drama for his role as MMA fighter Mark Kerr in The Smashing Machine, announced December 8, 2025.
The Smashing Machine premiered at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival on September 1, 2025, where it won the Silver Lion for director Benny Safdie.
Johnson and Emily Blunt announced an untitled Hawaii-set crime drama to be directed by Martin Scorsese, co-starring Leonardo DiCaprio, with the project in pre-production as of 2026.
