Hypno5e is a French avant-garde metal band from Montpellier, active since 2003. They coined the term 'cinematic metal' for their approach: sprawling concept albums that weave heavy riffs, atmospheric passages, spoken-word poetry and string sections into a single filmic arc - often with custom video projections at live shows. Their six studio albums on Pelagic Records span from the raw debut Des Deux l'Une Est l'Autre (2007) to the mythologically charged Sheol (2023), which forms a conceptual diptych with A Distant (Dark) Source (2019).
Hypno5e were announced as support on The Ocean's Fall 2026 European tour, alongside Psychonaut and Pothamus.
Hypno5e guitarist Emmanuel Jessua joined The Ocean's new lineup as guitarist, alongside new vocalists Enrico Tiberi and Lane Shi.
Hypno5e played Just'N'Fest 2025 in Saint-Just, France, in October 2025.
