Ian Paice (born 29 June 1948, Nottingham) is the drummer and sole founding member of British hard rock band Deep Purple who has played in every lineup since the band formed in 1968. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Deep Purple in 2016, and is widely regarded as one of the most influential rock drummers of his generation. His drumming anchors classic albums such as 'Machine Head' (1972) and 'Made in Japan' (1972), and he has also worked with Whitesnake, Gary Moore and Paice Ashton Lord.
