American folk singer-songwriter Jake Xerxes Fussell takes the stage in Stockholm.
Jake Xerxes Fussell (born 1981, Columbus, Georgia) is an American singer and guitarist based in Durham, North Carolina, known for his spare, unhurried interpretations of traditional Southern folk, blues, and sea songs. Raised by a folklorist father who took him on field-recording trips across the American South, he apprenticed as a teenager with Piedmont blues guitarist Precious Bryant and went on to release five albums - most recently When I'm Called (Fat Possum, 2024) - that have earned him recognition as one of the leading interpreters of American folk music working today.
The Rebuilding film score, composed by Fussell and James Elkington for Max Walker-Silverman's feature film, was released on Fat Possum Records on November 14, 2025, alongside the film's theatrical opening in New York.
Fussell announced the theatrical release of Rebuilding and the accompanying soundtrack, previewing two tracks - 'Glow in the Dark' and 'Contemplating the Moon' - ahead of the November release.
Fussell released a cover of Arthur Russell's 'Close My Eyes' as a digital single in March 2025, a song he had been performing live for several years.
The film Rebuilding, for which Fussell and Elkington composed the score, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 26, 2025.
Fussell's fifth album When I'm Called was released on July 12, 2024, via Fat Possum Records - his debut for the label - to critical acclaim.
