Judith Hill (born May 6, 1984, Los Angeles) is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist of Japanese-African American heritage, whose music draws on soul, funk, gospel and rock. She rose to global attention after singing 'Heal the World' at Michael Jackson's 2009 memorial service, and her story as a backup singer was told in the Oscar-winning documentary '20 Feet from Stardom' (2013), which also earned her a Grammy for Best Music Film. Prince produced her debut album 'Back in Time' (2015), and her fourth album 'Letters from a Black Widow' (2024) - written, arranged and largely performed by Hill herself - is widely seen as her most personal work to date.
Hill performed 'Nothing Compares 2 U' at halftime of a Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Dallas Mavericks NBA game on February 20, 2026.
Hill launched a fall 2025 U.S. tour on September 30, performing songs from 'Letters from a Black Widow' alongside fan favorites.
Hill appeared as a support act for Deep Purple in São Paulo, Brazil, on June 15, 2025.
Hill was a special guest vocalist with Prince's band The Revolution at First Avenue in Minneapolis, celebrating 40 years of the 'Purple Rain' album.
Hill released her fourth studio album 'Letters from a Black Widow', a self-composed and largely self-performed soul/funk/gospel record described as autobiographical.
