Judy Garland (born Frances Ethel Gumm, June 10, 1922 - June 22, 1969) was an American actress, singer and vaudevillian whose career ran from childhood vaudeville stages to Hollywood's golden age and beyond. Signed by MGM at 13, she made 34 feature films - among them The Wizard of Oz (1939), Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) and A Star Is Born (1954) - and earned two Academy Award nominations as an adult. Her concert work proved equally formidable: the live album Judy at Carnegie Hall (1961) spent 73 weeks on the Billboard 200 and won five Grammy Awards, cementing her status as one of the 20th century's defining popular entertainers.
