Lana Wachowski is an American film director and screenwriter who co-created The Matrix trilogy with her sister Lilly Wachowski. The films blend high-octane action with philosophical ideas drawn from sources ranging from Baudrillard to Hong Kong cinema. She later directed Cloud Atlas and returned to the franchise with Matrix Resurrections in 2021.
