Leïla Ka is a French choreographer who started out as a street dancer before moving into contemporary dance, including a period as assistant to choreographer Maguy Marin. Since 2018 she has made her own work, using movement to examine gender roles and social expectations. Her solo Pode Ser brought her wider recognition, and Maldonne continues that inquiry with five dancers and a stage full of second-hand dresses.
