Finnish duo Maustetytöt takes the stage with their new album Itken jos mua huvittaa, exploring life's hardships and emotional extremes.
Maustetytöt is a Finnish indie pop duo formed in 2017 by sisters Anna and Kaisa Karjalainen from Vaala, known for their deadpan stage presence and sharply realist Finnish-language lyrics. They won the Emma Awards for Rock of the Year and Band of the Year in 2020, and gained international recognition after performing in Aki Kaurismäki's Cannes-acclaimed 2023 film Fallen Leaves - a breakthrough that launched their first European tours and drew coverage from The New York Times and The Guardian.
Maustetytöt released their fourth album 'Itken jos mua huvittaa' on 13 March 2026, recorded at an analogue studio in Gothenburg with producers Gustav Ejstes and Mattias Glava.
A Scandinavian tour leg - covering Sweden, Norway and Denmark - was announced to follow the Finnish release dates in September 2026.
The song 'Syntynyt suruun ja puettu pettymyksin', popularised in Poland by Radio 357, reached number 3 on that station's chart in January 2026 after spending a hundred weeks in the top thirty.
Maustetytöt played a special two-set concert at Ääniwalli in Helsinki in October 2024, their only Helsinki appearance that autumn.
The duo completed their first multi-country European tour in May 2024, with dates in Germany, France and Sweden as well as Primavera Sound in Barcelona.
