Canadian progressive rock legends SAGA mark 50 years with a tour across Sweden. Classic hits spanning from 1977 to today.
Michael Sadler is a Welsh-born vocalist, keyboardist and bassist best known as the frontman of Canadian progressive rock band Saga, which he co-founded in Oakville, Ontario in 1977. He left the band in 2007 but returned in 2011, and has since appeared on nearly every Saga release across a discography spanning more than two dozen albums. Beyond Saga, Sadler has collaborated with a wide range of artists and in 2025 debuted a new project called serengazer.
Saga announced a return to live performances in Canada for 2026, with Sadler rejoining guitarist Ian Crichton and keyboardist Jim Gilmour after an extended recovery.
Reports emerged that Saga are planning a world tour titled 'Saga 50 - 1977-2027: The Generations Tour' to mark the band's 50th anniversary.
Sadler performed at ProgStock 2025 and debuted his new band serengazer at the festival.
Sadler clarified that he is 'not currently terminal' after media misreported a July 12 post in which he disclosed that his rare muscle-invasive cancer, diagnosed in 2024, had been deemed incurable and untreatable.
Sadler's wife Gwen publicly revealed his diagnosis of a highly aggressive form of muscle-invasive cancer, described as a rare type occurring in only 3-5% of cases.
