Pianokonsert nr 4

About

Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major, Op. 58, was composed in 1805-06 and dedicated to Archduke Rudolf of Austria. It opens with an unaccompanied solo piano phrase - a striking departure from convention - and is marked throughout by a lyrical, introspective character and a delicate dialogue between soloist and orchestra. Beethoven himself was the soloist at the public premiere on 22 December 1808 in Vienna, the last time he would perform a concerto in public as his hearing continued to fail.
