Pink Floyd are an English rock band formed in London in 1965, built around the core of Roger Waters, Nick Mason, Richard Wright and - after Syd Barrett's departure in 1968 - David Gilmour. Pioneers of psychedelic and progressive rock, they are among the best-selling artists in history with over 250 million records sold worldwide. Albums such as The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975) and The Wall (1979) remain cultural touchstones, and the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.
Pink Floyd announced the compilation '8-Tracks', featuring eight classics from 1971-1979, edited by Steven Wilson, released via Sony Music on 5 June 2026.
The 50th anniversary reissue 'Wish You Were Here 50' debuted at UK #1 at Christmas 2025, giving Pink Floyd the record for the longest span between chart-topping albums - over 50 years.
'Wish You Were Here 50', released 12 December 2025 via Sony Music, includes six previously unreleased alternate versions and demos alongside a new Dolby Atmos mix.
The restored 1972 concert film 'Pink Floyd at Pompeii - MCMLXXII' was released in cinemas and its soundtrack debuted at UK #1, the band's first chart-topper in eleven years.
2025 marked the first time Pink Floyd had two #1 albums in the UK in the same calendar year.
