Purpendicular is a Deep Purple tribute band founded in 2007 by Irish vocalist Robby Thomas Walsh, notable for having Deep Purple co-founder and drummer Ian Paice as a permanent member. Starting out as one of Europe's most respected Purple tribute acts, the band has since released four studio albums of original material, with contributions over the years from Roger Glover, Don Airey and Steve Morse. Their fourth album, Banned, came out in October 2025 via Metalville.
Purpendicular released their fourth studio album, Banned (featuring Ian Paice), on October 10, 2025 via Metalville.
The single 'Banned' was released on September 11, 2025, ahead of the album.
Ian Paice and Purpendicular performed a concert in Amsterdam on September 27, 2025.
The 'Banned Tour 2026' ran from February 10 to March 9, 2026, covering cities across Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Austria.
The band wrote their fourth album in the mountains near Porto, Portugal, where wildfires forced their evacuation - an experience that shaped the album's themes.
