Rolf Holger Lassgård (born 29 March 1955 in Östersund, Jämtland) is one of Sweden's most prominent actors, with a career spanning theatre, film and television since the late 1970s. He is best known internationally for playing detective Kurt Wallander in SVT's adaptations of Henning Mankell's novels (1994-2007) and for the title role in the 2015 film A Man Called Ove - at the time Sweden's biggest box-office hit in 32 years and a double Oscar nominee. He has been nominated six times for the Guldbagge Award, winning twice: for Min store tjocke far (1992) and A Man Called Ove (2016).
Lassgård stars in the SVT thriller series Svärtan, based on John Ajvide Lindqvist's novel Sommaren 1985, premiering on SVT on 24 July 2026.
Svärtan, the SVT series featuring Lassgård, was selected as a competition entry at the Canneseries TV festival in April 2026.
Lassgård appeared at the Bohusläns Kammarmusikfestival in June 2026, reading texts and poetry alongside Vivaldi's Four Seasons and Malena Ernman.
Lassgård played Swedish Prime Minister Thorbjörn Fälldin in the Cold War satire Whiskey on the Rocks, which premiered on SVT on Christmas Day 2024 and later on Hulu and Disney+ internationally.
The film Rome (Möte i Rom), starring Lassgård alongside Bodil Jørgensen, was selected as the closing film of the Göteborg Film Festival and acquired internationally by REinvent.
