About

Staffan Scheja (born 1950, Danderyd) is a Swedish pianist and professor who made his concert debut at fourteen with Herbert Blomstedt and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. After winning the top prize at the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in 1975, he built a career spanning Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center and major orchestras from the Munich Philharmonic to the NHK in Tokyo. He founded the Gotland Chamber Music Festival in 1986 and has long served as professor and adviser to the rector at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.
