Stockard Channing (born Susan Antonia Williams Stockard, February 13, 1944) is an American actress whose career spans stage, film and television over more than five decades. She is best known for playing Betty Rizzo in Grease (1978), First Lady Abbey Bartlet in The West Wing (1999-2006), and Ouisa Kittredge in Six Degrees of Separation - a role she originated on Broadway and reprised on film, earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in 1993. Her awards include three Emmy Awards, a Tony Award for A Day in the Death of Joe Egg (1985), and nominations for a Golden Globe, an Olivier Award and a Grammy.
Channing spoke publicly about living as a 'recluse' in London following the 2014 death of her partner Daniel Gillham, and hinted at possible retirement from acting.
