concert19:30The Bulgarian Voices Angelite (Bulgaria)
Bulgarian vocal ensemble The Bulgarian Voices Angelite performs traditional Bulgarian music in the church.
The Bulgarian Voices Angelite is a Sofia-based women's choir rooted in the Bulgarian polyphonic tradition, tracing its lineage to the State Television Choir founded in 1952. Reconstituted as a private ensemble after the fall of communism, the roughly 20-voice group broke internationally with a 1987 cathedral concert in Bremen and has since performed at the Nobel Prize ceremony in Oslo, on Red Square in Moscow, and at the Vatican. The choir holds multiple Grammy nominations and has collaborated with Huun-Huur-Tu, the Moscow Art Trio, and Bobby McFerrin, releasing over 13 albums on the German label Jaro.
The choir performed two concerts at Grundtvig's Church in Copenhagen on November 29 and 30, 2025, with most shows sold out.
Bulgarian Voices Angelite are scheduled to perform at Gothenburg Concert Hall (Stenhammarsalen) on October 23, 2026.
A concert at Marmorkirken in Copenhagen sold out, marking the choir's continued strong draw in Scandinavia.
The choir released the album 'Heritage' under conductor Katja Barulova, covering both previously published and new material.
