The Doors were an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1965, comprising vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, and drummer John Densmore. Their blues-tinged psychedelic sound - anchored by Manzarek's organ lines in place of a bass player - and Morrison's dark, poetic lyrics set them apart from the prevailing West Coast rock of the era. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, the band has surpassed 120 million equivalent album sales worldwide and remains a touchstone of 1960s counterculture.
Drummer John Densmore offered fans a charity auction for a private lunch with him in Los Angeles.
The Doors' 60th anniversary year wrapped up with global fan events marking the milestone.
ChartMasters confirmed The Doors have surpassed 120.1 million equivalent album sales, with 'Riders on the Storm' (2021 Remaster) accumulating 541.9 million Spotify streams.
The documentary film 'The Doors: When You're Strange' was re-released in cinemas worldwide on December 4 and 6, 2025.
For their 60th anniversary, The Doors partnered with Apple Maps to launch a guide covering 20 key locations in the band's history across California and Europe.
