The Obsessed is an American doom metal band from Potomac, Maryland, founded by guitarist and vocalist Scott "Wino" Weinrich in the late 1970s. The band broke up and reformed several times before announcing a permanent reunion in 2016, and is widely credited as one of the founding forces behind both doom metal and stoner rock. Their 2024 album "Gilded Sorrow" on Ripple Music was their first in seven years, and in July 2026 the band signed to Heavy Psych Sounds for a new album due in 2027.
The Obsessed signed a worldwide deal with Heavy Psych Sounds Records for a new studio album due in 2027.
The band entered Waterford Digital Studio in Pasadena, Maryland with producer Frank Marchand to record their new album, titled "Live Fast - Love Hard - Die Free".
Bob Pantella, also known as the drummer of Monster Magnet, joined The Obsessed as their new drummer.
The Obsessed released "Gilded Sorrow" on Ripple Music on February 16, 2024 - their first album in seven years.
