This Gift Is a Curse is a Stockholm black metal band formed in 2008 by vocalist Jonas A. Holmberg and drummer Johan Nordlund, later joined by guitarist Patrik Andersson, bassist Lars Gunnarsson, and second guitarist David Deravian. Signed to Season of Mist, they blend black metal with sludge, doom and hardcore into a sound that has earned them a devoted following across the European underground. Their 2025 album 'Heir' cracked the Swedish album chart's top ten.

The album was recorded at Overlook Studio in Gävle with producer William Blackmon and mastered by Magnus Lindberg at Redmount Studios.
Lead single and video 'Kingdom', featuring vocalist Laura Morgan of Livmødr, was released ahead of the album in December 2024.
The band played Monument 031 in Gothenburg in October 2025 as part of their post-release touring.
