Thorbjørn Risager is a Danish blues and soul singer-guitarist who fronts the eight-piece Copenhagen band The Black Tornado. Active since the mid-2000s, the group has released nine studio albums on labels including Ruf Records and Provogue/Mascot Label Group, won four Danish Music Awards and the European Blues Award for Best Band, and logged more than 1,500 shows across Scandinavia, Europe, North America and Asia. Their sound draws on Chicago blues, soul, boogie and rock 'n' roll, and Risager's raw, powerful voice has drawn comparisons to Ray Charles, Van Morrison and Billy Gibbons.
The live album 'Live at Hotel Cecil' was released on 19 June 2026 via Provogue/Artone, capturing a sold-out hometown show recorded at Copenhagen's Hotel Cecil on 29 November 2025.
Following the album release, the band launched a European tour spanning Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands and Belgium.
The band released a live single 'Said I Was Hurt' ahead of the 'Live at Hotel Cecil' album, recorded at Hotel Cecil during the House of Sticks winter tour.
The studio album 'House of Sticks' was released in January 2025 via Provogue/Artone, the band's ninth studio record.
Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado won the Blues Live Prize (Blues Liveprisen) at the Danish Music Awards Blues in 2023, and the album 'Navigation Blues' won Danish Blues Release of the Year.
