Victor Sjöström (1879-1960) was a Swedish director and actor, one of the most important figures of the silent film era. He directed Körkarlen (1921), a film celebrated for its pioneering special effects and expressive cinematography. He also had a notable career in Hollywood before returning to Sweden.
