Wes Bentley (born September 4, 1978, in Jonesboro, Arkansas) is an American actor who broke through as the quietly unsettling Ricky Fitts in the Oscar-winning American Beauty (1999), earning a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actor. After a difficult period marked by substance abuse in the 2000s, he rebuilt his career with roles in The Hunger Games (2012), Christopher Nolan's Interstellar (2014), and three seasons of Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story. From 2018 to 2024 he played the morally conflicted lawyer Jamie Dutton across all five seasons of Paramount Network's Yellowstone, one of the most-watched cable dramas in US television history.
Bentley confirmed he was involved in a reported on-set altercation with Kevin Costner during the filming of Yellowstone.
Bentley was cast in Ryan Murphy's FX series The Shards, his first TV role since Yellowstone ended, playing a character named Terry.
Yellowstone concluded its five-season run on December 15, 2024, with the series finale drawing 11.4 million same-day viewers - the largest night-one audience in the show's history.
