Lunchjazz at Contrast Public House

Saturday lunch featuring Papa Piders Jazzband on stage, inspired by the Danish tradition of Frokostjazz. Sprängkullen Live in hosts the entertainment, with lunch and drinks available.

Papa Piders Jazzband was one of Gothenburg's most respected jazz bands from the early 1960s for approximately 25 years - the band won several jazz competitions and was among the first to perform abroad. After disbanding in the mid-1980s, it was revived in 2010 at the initiative of original drummer Bosse Lindgren. The band plays revival jazz with plenty of vocals and some skiffle, in the style played during England's trad boom - music in the same tradition as Acker Bilk, Ken Colyer and Chris Barber.

Band lineup: Klas Nilsson (trumpet, vocals), Sverker Nyström (clarinet, saxophone, vocals), Pider Åvall (trombone, vocals), Anders Hultman (banjo, vocals), Claes Nordborg (bass, vocals) and Bo Lindgren (drums, bandleader, booking).

Saturday lunches are arranged by SWEJS (Swedish Executive Jazz Society), a non-profit association founded by jazz enthusiasts over 25 years ago. They present Swedish and international jazz artists one Friday a month, with lunch.
