Henning & Sunnan
Henning
Henning has been described as "Masthugget's Mark Knopfler" and, according to DN, possesses "an expression so natural he might have been born with it". As a guitarist, he has toured with Tomas Andersson Wij, Lill-Babs, Daniel Gilbert, and Sofia Karlsson, among others. Under his own name, he plays guitar-based soft rock in Swedish - grounded everyday observations interspersed with guitar solos that transport the listener far away. His lyrics are locally rooted in his hometown, and the album was recorded in his own studio in Sandarna, Göteborg.
Sunnan
Sunnan describes their music as "Cinema. Spaghetti Soul" - a genre rooted in classical aesthetics and sweeping soundscapes in the spirit of Morricone. The band consists of five established musicians who met through an unlikely chain of events: a pandemic, the view from a panoramic window in a barn in Sunnanhed, and a chance encounter with a legend from Stockholm's 90s rave scene.
Their debut album Cinema was released in August and achieved immediate success. The single Wild Horses was named P3's hit of the week, and the band's first headline show in Stockholm sold out within days. Dagens Nyheter has named Sunnan the best thing around right now, and earlier this year the band was nominated for two Grammy Awards.
