The Coffinshakers

The band was formed in 1995 by singer and guitarist Rob Coffinshaker and has since forged its own path: stripped-down country and surf-tinged rock'n'roll mixed with darkness, melancholy, and tales drawn from the world of horror.

The songs are sparse and punchy - built with minimal means but carrying a presence that is hard to resist. The fingerprints of Johnny Cash are clear, yet there is something colder, more shadowy, and slightly unhinged here, always with a wry undertone of humour.

The music ranges from slow, desolate ballads to pulsing outbursts - and the four pale, black-clad figures conjure something that settles like a curse from the dead.
