Iiris Viljanen

Rooted in contemporary jazz and the free expression of last year's instrumental piano album So Much of You Was Sleeping, Viljanen's music moves freely between composition and improvisation. Each concert allows the works to breathe, transform, and sometimes take entirely new directions - Viljanen often creates new themes in real time, in an intuitive interplay between time, timbre, and space.

Grooves meet quieter soundscapes and spontaneous improvisation. Structures unfold like conversations, and sometimes a wordless song emerges as a whisper.

Viljanen has previously released five solo albums, including Själsligt uppvaknande vid Slussen (2024) - nominated for a Grammis award and selected as one of the year's best Swedish albums by Dagens Nyheter.
