Beethoven with Ava Bahari
Göteborgs Konserthus, Gothenburg
Violinist Ava Bahari, born in Göteborg, returns home after touring the Nordic countries and Japan. Together with French pianist Nathanaël Gouin, she performs a programme spanning nearly 150 years - in the Stenhammarsalen.
The duo opens with Boris Blacher's violin sonata, followed by Elfrida Andrée's two romances. Between them, a variant of the ballet The Fairy's Kiss, which Igor Stravinsky based on Hans Christian Andersen's tale The Little Mermaid.
The evening's centrepiece is Beethoven's Kreutzer Sonata, premiered in Vienna in 1803 with Beethoven himself at the piano. When the sonata was later published, it carried a dedication to French violinist Rodolphe Kreutzer - who never played it.
