Göteborgsrodden 2026

On 29 August, the West Coast Wooden Boat Association (Västkustens Träbåtsförening) organizes Göteborgsrodden 2026 - a rowing tour in period clothing from the early 1900s. The association held the first Göteborgsrodden in 2024. The aim is to preserve the cultural heritage of traditional wooden-boat rowing, foster community on Gothenburg's waters, and welcome guest rowers from other coasts.

The rowing tour departs from Frihamnen at 11.00 and travels via Rosenlundskanalen to Vasabron, where rowers take a lunch break between 12.00 and 13.30. During the break, the brass ensemble Kamraterna performs and host Jonas Olson introduces the different crews. You can meet crews from the west, east, and south coasts as well as from Denmark and Norway. The crews then continue past Drottningtorget and Brunnsparken into Stora Hamnkanalen, with the next stop at Estoniahamnen at 16.00.

It is free to watch the boats and meet the crews at Vasabron. The rowing boats are visible along the riverbanks, but best viewed from the sides of Vallgraven. On Sunday morning, the boats are lifted at Frihamnen for transport home.
