Linda May Han Oh
Göteborgs Konserthus, Gothenburg
Superbassist Linda May Han Oh has toured and recorded with Pat Metheny, Kenny Barron, and Terri Lyne Carrington. Known for her intuitive bass playing on both electric bass and double bass, she was named bassist of the year by JazzTimes magazine in 2022.
She moves freely between avantgarde, post-bop, and jazz-funk - lyrical and rhythmic, yet endlessly varied. Under her own name, she has five critically acclaimed albums, including one that earned her a Grammy in 2023 for best instrumental jazz album. She has also composed music for independent films and contemporary classical works for small ensembles.
Performing with her in Göteborg are pianist and husband Fabian Almazán, who has developed his own approach to manipulating and electrifying the acoustic piano, and drummer Mark Whitfield Jr. - a recurring choice for musicians such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Orrin Evans, and Chico Freeman.
