Angel Voices from Bulgaria
Göteborgs Konserthus, Gothenburg
The women's choir Bulgarian Voices Angelite is renowned for its crystalline voices, dense harmonies, and hypnotic rhythms rooted in Bulgarian folk tradition. The style is characterized by distinctive rhythmic shifts, often dissonant harmonies, and a consistent absence of vibrato.
The choir achieved international recognition after the fall of the Iron Curtain and has since performed on major stages across Europe, the USA, Japan, and India - including at the Nobel Prize Concert in Oslo.
Over the years, Bulgarian Voices Angelite has expanded its artistic range by drawing inspiration from classical music, rock, jazz, and throat singing. They have collaborated with the Mongolian ensemble Huun-Huur-Tu on several albums.
