Reggae night with Linton Kwesi Johnson and others — Mejeriet, Lund
Description was written before the event

Since the 1970s, Linton Kwesi Johnson has performed his sharply articulated, socially conscious poetry to instrumental reggae rhythms - an art form known as microphone poetry.

Johnson was born in Jamaica and moved to South London at age eleven in 1963. There he quickly developed political awareness, studied sociology, and joined the Black Panthers. His first texts were published in the magazine "Race Today" in 1974, and his debut album "Dread Beat An' Blood" from 1978 depicted police brutality, racism, and the life of an Afro-Caribbean immigrant in Britain. Since then, he has pursued a diverse career as an artist, poet, and journalist, toured the world, and received numerous awards for his pioneering work in poetry and reggae.

The evening also features Trollkarlen with his seven-piece band and Österlen Dub Factory, who perform reggae hits from Kingston to Lund spanning the last 50 years.
