A Flame for Lena Nyman
Årsta Folkets Hus Teater, Stockholm
The performance portrays with warmth and humor the life and career of Lena Nyman - from a shy six-year-old in Kristineberg who was sent to drama school to overcome her shyness, to the beloved and acclaimed actress who was equally at home in light comedy and profound drama.
Lena Nyman carried both light and darkness within her. When she realized she did not have long to live, she donated her diaries, photographs, and letters to the Swedish Theatre Museum. The performance is built on her own words from the preserved notes and the fascinating story of her life.
On stage: Anna Bromee. Script: Anna Bromee (with excerpts from Jonas Gardell's "Hell is Memory Without the Power to Change"). Direction: Hedvig Claesson. Musicians (pre-recorded): Carina E Nilsson, Jenny Tidquist-Karlsson, Henrik Bromée, and Anna Bromee.
A production by Anna Bromee Produktion.
