Ragnarök - A Tribute to Jojje Wadenius

This evening was meant to welcome Jojje Wadenius back to Nefertiti. Following his sudden passing, we gather instead to honour one of Sweden's most beloved musicians.

When Ragnarök was formed in 1972, music from Jojje Wadenius' legendary band Made in Sweden made up a large part of their repertoire. The original Ragnarök line-up - the one that later recorded their debut album - was born from a love of that very music, and it feels natural now to tour in tribute to Jojje and his musical legacy.

This evening's programme draws heavily from the live album Live at the Golden Circle, where Made in Sweden interpreted works by Joe Zawinul, Charles Lloyd and Wes Montgomery. The set also includes music from later periods of Made in Sweden, along with selected pieces from Ragnarök's own catalogue.

On stage stands the original line-up from 54 years ago: Peter Bryngelsson (guitar), Henrik Strindberg (flute, guitar), Staffan Strindberg (bass) and Mikael Svanevik (drums). Joining them as a new addition is Per-Åke Holmlander on tuba and kimbasso, known from work with the Peter Brötzmann Orchestra.
