Ut med konsten! Göteborgs Stads konstsamling 80 år

The exhibition presents a selection of works from the city's art collection based on the theme "80 years of longing". In art, longing has often served as a language for what cannot be fully articulated. At the same time, longing is closely tied to questions of belonging.

Göteborg started its art collection in 1946. Today it comprises nearly 11,000 works - from painting, sculpture and textile to photography, video and installation. The collection reflects the times both then and now, and is thus part of Göteborg's cultural heritage.

The exhibition title Ut med konsten! refers to the city's practice of purchasing art to place and display in venues where people move about in their everyday lives - in other words, "Out with the art!".
