Zanele Muholi - Hasselblad Prize Winner 2026
Sat, 10 Oct 2026 · 11:00 — 17:00
Zanele Muholi is an internationally recognized photographer and visual activist whose work centres on visibility, dignity and rights for Black HBTQIA+ people. Through long-term projects such as Faces and Phases and Somnyama Ngonyama, artistic precision merges with political commitment - her work challenges norms and creates alternative visual narratives about identity, representation and resistance.
In connection with the Hasselblad Award 2026, a broad programme is arranged featuring seminars, artist talks, a concert with Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, book launch and exhibition opening. The formal prize ceremony takes place on 9 October. The week creates encounters between audiences, artists and photography researchers.
