Gertrude Stein — Stora scenen, Stockholm

Gertrude Stein sits in her Paris apartment. She should start packing - the moving van arrives tomorrow - but instead she finds herself looking back. On how she came to Paris, how she bought her first Cézanne, and how she, her brother, and her life partner Alice B Toklas suddenly became the epicenter of the city's revolutionary art scene. How Picasso, Matisse, and others came to crowd both the walls and the dinner table.

Johan Rabaeus plays the outspoken writer and art collector who was not only a self-proclaimed genius, but also a well-known and important figure in Paris's art world during the first half of the twentieth century.

The set design is created by artist Ernst Billgren. Directed by Carl Johan Karlson, known for the public and critical success Arv. Marty Martins's monologue was previously staged at Dramaten in 1985, then with Margaretha Krook in the role.
