Tschandala The Romani Version

An award-winning performance in which actor and singer Lindy Larsson, together with the orchestra Bon Bon Band, gives voice to the Romani people and exposes a blind spot in Swedish history. The production addresses questions of exclusion and abuse, but also survival, healing, and liberation - a musical manifesto featuring Romani music without a safety net and a punk-spirited reckoning with Strindberg's novella Tschandala.

Actor and singer Lindy Larsson is a member of the ensemble at Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin. For Tschandala - The Romani Version, he has received the Theatre Critics' Prize 2022, Stockholm City's Honour Prize for Theatre 2023, and the Katarina Taikon Prize 2023, and has been nominated for the international Tajsa Prize 2023. The production was selected for the Swedish Scenkonstbiennalen 2023 in Stockholm. Larsson is also currently performing in Fejk, which premieres on 5 September.

The production was created in collaboration with Strindberg's Intima Teater.
